Safety
Winning races is fine, but we want all of our rowers to not only be safe, but to be reassured about their safety.  Our boats among the safest boats available.Every boat we build has enclosed bow and stern compartments.We also enclose the area under the seat deck for added buoyancy.  This makes the fitting of electronics a little troublesome, but we feel this is insignificant compared to your safety.  We are also happy to put polystyrene blocks in any of the enclosed areas at the production stage.  This will help to keep the boat afloat even if it has been holed, but will add slightly to the boat weight and cost.  If you would like to take advantage of this, then be sure to specify at the time of order.  Please understand that it may be impossible to remove these polystyrene blocks at a later date without major work.

Boat colours
The standard colour for Swift boats is white hull and canvas decks, with black tips for the bow and stern, and black trim on the saxboard tops and wave breaker.  Deck tape is black.   We use 3 coats of a UV resistant polyurethane paint to help protect your boat.

There is a 150 pounds charge for sections in singles and doubles, and a 250 pound charge for sections in fours and extra sections in eights. Boat weight

  • Elite are built to FISA minimum -2% to +5%.
  • Elite Economy are approximately 0% to 10% over FISA minimum.
  • Club A are approximately 5% to 25% over FISA minimum.
  • Club B are approximately 5% to 30% over FISA minimum.
  • Saver are approximately 10% to 40% over FISA minimum.

Reasons for the wide range of "over-weightedness" within any one grade of boat;
   - Sweep rigged boats tend to be less over FISA minimum weight than scull rigged boats.
   - Bigger boat classes (8s and 4s) tend to be less over FISA minimum weight than smaller boat
     classes (1x and 2x/-).
   - Boats for lightweights tend to be lighter than boats for heavy crews.

Coxed Boats
All eights are stern coxed boats, in line with FISA's rules of racing. Fours can be built as either top coxed/front loaders, or as stern coxed boats.
